Terms of Service
Effective August 23, 2026
Book & a Note is operated by RogerTen LLC (“we,” “us”). By using bookandanote.com or placing an order, you agree to these terms. They’re written to be read — if anything is unclear, email hello@bookandanote.com before you order.
What we sell
A personalized gift: a brand-new copy of the book you choose, with your inscription added — printed or handwritten by a real person, depending on the level you select — packaged and shipped to a US address. What each level includes (inscription method, word limit, packaging) is exactly what is described at checkout at the time you order. Prices are all-inclusive of the book, the inscription, packaging, and tracked US shipping, and are charged at checkout through Stripe.
Books are the works of their respective authors and publishers. We are an independent retailer: we’re not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any author or publisher, and cover designs shown on the site may differ from the edition in print when your order ships. If the exact book you request is unavailable, we’ll contact you before substituting anything.
Your note
You’re responsible for what you ask us to write. By submitting a note you confirm you have the right to its contents and that it isn’t unlawful, hateful, harassing, or intended to deceive the recipient about who sent it. We may decline to produce an inscription at our discretion — if we do, we’ll tell you and refund you in full. Handwriting styles are stylistic: real hands vary, and that’s the point.
The optional AI drafting tool produces a suggestion. By using the draft (edited or not), you adopt it as your own words and remain responsible for it as above.
Cancellations, returns, and problems
Because every order is personalized, it can’t be returned once the inscription has been made. You may cancel for a full refund any time before your note goes to production — email us with your order number as soon as possible.
If your gift arrives damaged, is lost in transit, or the inscription doesn’t match what you submitted, tell us within 14 days of the delivery date (or expected delivery date) and we’ll make it right with a replacement or a refund. That’s a promise we care about keeping — it’s the whole business.
Delivery estimates (typically 3–5 business days) are good-faith estimates, not guarantees; carriers have bad weeks. Title and risk of loss pass to you on delivery, but as described above, we don’t leave you hanging on lost packages.
The website
The site, its design, its imagery, and its text are ours or licensed to us; book covers and titles belong to their publishers and are shown to identify the books offered for sale. You agree not to misuse the site — no scraping at scale, probing, or interfering with its operation.
The site is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, and our total liability for any claim arising out of an order or the site is limited to the amount you paid for the order in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Housekeeping
We may update these terms; the version in effect when you place an order is the one that governs that order. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before any formal dispute, both sides agree to try to work it out by email first — in our experience, that resolves nearly everything.
